Instructors

Arcesio Lizcano

Corporate Consultant - Civil/Geotechnical Engineering

Arcesio is a civil engineer with more than thirty years of experience in geotechnical engineering including research and teaching in soil mechanics. Arcesio has extensive experience in engineering design and construction, including construction oversight of foundations, excavations, road embankments, retaining structures, and stockpiles and waste dumps. Arcesio specializes in understanding the behaviour of sand and clays and applying that understanding to practical problems. He has contributed to civil and mining projects in Asia, Europe, Africa, North and South America. He has published over a hundred papers in journals and conferences.

Diana Reyes

Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Diana has 17 years of diversified professional experience in geotechnical and earthquake engineering. Diana's experience covers aspects of the consulting engineering and the research in geotechnical earthquake engineering, specializing in probabilistic seismic hazard analysis, site response, and constitutive modeling of geomaterials. Diana's background includes project management, coordination, and execution as well as client relationships. She has experience in geotechnical engineering analysis, foundation design, seismic hazard evaluations, site response analysis, ground motion design, liquefaction potential evaluation, and non-linear soil-structure interaction. Projects Diana has worked on include mining facilities, nuclear power plants, oil and gas pipelines, offshore platforms, marine ports and harbors, levees, large transportation infrastructure, hospitals, schools and large residential developments within United States and internationally (Latin America, Middle East, Africa, southeast Asia, and eastern Europe).

Osvaldo Ledesma

Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Osvaldo is a civil engineer with experience in geotechnical engineering for infrastructure and mining. Osvaldo has been involved in the design of foundations, large urban excavations, tunnels, embankments and dams for projects in Argentina, Perú, Paraguay, Mexico, and Canada. His experience includes field investigation, construction oversight, and detailed engineer design. He has advanced knowledge in the application of numerical methods for modeling soil behavior under static and seismic conditions. He has also been involved in academic and scientific activities at the University of Buenos Aires.

Instructors

Ignacio Cueto

Senior Consultant - Civil/Geotechnical Engineering

Ignacio is a civil engineer from Argentina with experience in geotechnical engineering for infrastructure and mining. He has been involved in the design of foundations, urban excavations, tunnels, and dams. He has also experience in the application of numerical analysis for modeling soil behavior for stability, construction sequence, and static or dynamic liquefaction assessment.

Erick Lino

Senior Consultant - Civil Engineering

Erick is a civil engineer with experience in mining geotechnical projects. He holds a master's degree in geotechnical engineering from The University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada). He has conducted research programs, characterized and interpreted different types of materials, and actively participated in multiple basic and detailed engineering studies. Erick specializes in numerical methods in geotechnical engineering and recently researched the use of Material Point Method (MPM) to simulate the failure of a tailings dam due to flow liquefaction.

Andres Barrero

Staff Consultant - Civil Engineering

Andres has experience in geotechnical consulting and a number of years as a researcher in theoretical soil mechanics. His primary area of interest focuses on mine waste dynamic assessments using numerical simulations. He has worked on projects in multiple climactic regions, from arid deserts to cold regions. A major component of his experience lies in the evaluation, design, and optimization of geotechnical structures. Andres is experienced in areas such as site investigation, geotechnical data collection and interpretation, instrumentation installation, slope stability analysis, theoretical applied geomechanics, geotechnical numerical modeling, and soil dynamics. He also has contributed significantly to the state of knowledge combining multiple peer-reviewed journal and conference publications.
